Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which the therapist works with a small number of clients who meet together. That work can consist of any form of psychotherapy theory that is delivered in this type of format. The interactive process of learning and growing in the company of others on a similar journey can result in change, as participants explore, examine, and develop interpersonal relationships within the group. Participants can focus on mutual support, as they share a common experience, on skills-training which may deal with issues such as anger management, mindfulness, relaxation training or social skills training, as participants learn effective behaviors and skill sets, and/or psycho-education.
